What was done?
We launched Secrets Veïnals , an urban treasure hunt linked to the GiroNat renaturalization program , which promotes connection with nature through citizen challenges.
The initiative, promoted by SEO/BirdLife together with the Girona City Council , includes the creation of 500 balconies for biodiversity , community workshops , a practical guide on native plants and an application to register the challenges.
The challenges range from planting local species, observing wild birds, collecting trash in natural spaces, to identifying flora in the neighborhood or rediscovering hidden corners such as renaturalized ponds.
The project, funded by European Next Generation funds, seeks to raise awareness , educate and mobilize citizens to take action for their urban environment, transforming the city into a greener, healthier and more biodiverse space.

Why a renaturalization gymkhana?
An urban scavenger hunt to renaturalize the city makes sense because it combines play and education to engage citizens in sustainability. It raises awareness about biodiversity, promotes responsible habits, strengthens the community, and demonstrates that every local action contributes to improving the urban environment and the global climate.
✅ Promotes urban biodiversity and creates microhabitats
✅ Reconnects people with nature in their daily lives.
✅ Transform sustainability into practical and fun learning.
✅ Makes climate action engaging through games and rewards.
