Client
Ecovadis has established itself as the global benchmark in corporate sustainability because it has managed to standardize how the ethical and environmental commitment of companies is measured worldwide.
This time, we organized an “active disconnection” activity where employees left the office environment and entered an indoor urban farm . The goal was to learn about the future of food, the circular economy, and hydroponic agriculture through hands-on experience with sprouts and microgreens.
Goals
SDG 11 | Cities and
sustainable communities
Local agriculture (Km 0)
By growing microgreens in the center of Barcelona (c/ Roc Boronat), they reduce the need to transport food from rural areas, decreasing traffic and urban congestion.
SDG 12 | Production and
responsible consumption
Resource saving
Their hydroponic system uses up to 90% less water than traditional agriculture and completely dispenses with pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
SDG 13 |
Climate action
Low carbon footprint
By eliminating the cold chain (refrigeration for transport) and long-distance transport, they drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with food.
What was done?
The days usually include the following stages:
Tour and Education: A guided tour of the urban farm in Barcelona is offered. The founders explain how vertical farming works, why it is more sustainable (water saving, no pesticides, locally sourced produce), and what microgreens actually are.
Hands-on Sowing Workshop: Participants learn to sow their own microgreens. Biodegradable materials (such as organic cellulose sheets) are used, and the technique for successful seed germination is taught.
Sensory Tasting: Participants taste different varieties of sprouts (such as radish, broccoli, mustard, etc.) directly from the tray. They learn to identify intense flavors, textures, and nutritional benefits (which are much greater than in the adult plant).
Group Dynamics: The process of cultivating something “living” fosters collaboration and environmental awareness within the team. At the end, employees typically take home their own kit or seedling tray to care for at home or in the office, seeing the results of their work within a few days.

Why a team-building activity about microgreens?
A microgreens team-building activity with Instagreen isn’t just an “afternoon out of the office”; it’s an immersive experience in the future of urban living . It combines learning about cutting-edge agricultural technology (hydroponics) with the sensory satisfaction of growing and tasting live food, all within a framework of genuine sustainability.
✅ Connection with Purpose (ESG and SDGs)
✅ Well-being and Active Mindfulness
✅ Promoting Innovation and Resilience
✅ Team Cohesion with Lasting Impact
The Microgreens workshop can also be carried out within the Green Connections activity together with three other workshops.
