Go Zero Waste app: new reuse feature
We’re launching a new app feature to make it easier to introduce reuse services in retail and restaurants! With version 1.6 of the app, we’ve worked to make it easier to:
- Let businesses offer reusable options
- Make it easier to buy or consume with reusable items
- Promote the ecosystem of reusable solutions
Facilitate the fact that consuming with reusable containers is no longer a barrier
We’ve long been aware that one of the barriers we face as consumers on the path to zero waste is forgetting our reusable bags and containers when we go shopping and end up using single-use paper or plastic bags.
Therefore, version 1.6 of the Go Zero Waste app introduces a new feature that will allow app users to borrow a reusable bag, coffee cup, or container from a store or cafe and return it whenever they want .

Facilitate more establishments to join the reuse
At the same time, we’ve developed an app for shop or restaurant owners who want to offer these reusable products to their customers. The business platform allows for easy inventory management and tracking of reusable products on loan.
The new feature will allow participating establishments to offer reusable bags, cups, containers, or any other item, allowing customers who request them to enjoy them for 30 days free of charge.

Promote the ecosystem of reusable solutions
The new feature is designed to incorporate any reuse service, facilitating the coexistence of different options already on the market. Some examples of the services that can be offered:
- Reusable coffee cups for cafes
- Reusable bags and containers for grocery stores
- Reusable packaging for takeaway shops
- Reusable cups and containers for collective catering dining rooms

The path of the #reuserevolution
Our societies urgently need to adopt solutions based on the circular economy. Recycling has proven to be an insufficient solution to address the growing problem of waste generation. To end the single-use culture, we need enabling alternatives that allow for systemic changes in our production and consumption systems.
To achieve this, it is first necessary to have regulatory frameworks and laws that promote waste prevention and reuse.
Secondly, the use of smartphones, digitalization, and new technologies increasingly allow us to offer solutions that make life easier for businesses and support the behavioral changes in consumers that are necessary to keep materials in circulation for as long as possible, while ensuring responsible use of resources.
Go Zero Waste: A Path of Solutions
This new feature is part of Go Zero Waste’s strategy to offer solutions toward zero waste.
The new features in version 1.6 complement the reusable container dispenser prototype we’ve been developing for three years, called Paasiot (Packaging as a Service IoT), and the reusable bag pilots in stores and markets we developed in collaboration with Bolseta as part of the Rebag project.
