SECARTYS is a Barcelona-based business association with over 470 members, encompassing four clusters (solar energy, energy storage, smart technologies, and lighting) plus the electronics and audiovisual sectors. Its distinguishing feature is that sustainability is not a secondary service, but rather the strategic axis that underpins all its activities.
Goals
SDG 11 | Cities and
sustainable communities
Active citizens who care for their environment
The challenges of local shopping are boosting small businesses and strengthening the circular economy
SDG 12 | Production and
responsible consumption
From use and discard to reuse and repair
Specific challenges such as buying in bulk or cooking with leftovers transform everyday habits into circular practices.
SDG 13 |
Climate action
Climate education through action
Taking action, measuring, and observing the impact generates more lasting climate learning than any theoretical talk.
What was done?
A waste reduction campaign with challenges was carried out to promote good habits among Secartys workers for 1 month.
In this way, using gamification and new technologies , a very large and at the same time fun environmental and social impact was generated.
The ultimate goal is to demonstrate that every small individual action contributes to creating a more sustainable world and strengthening the local business fabric .
We achieved the activation of the workforce in climate action and SDGs, generating sustainable habits from the company outwards, team cohesion, awareness of the impact of positive actions through the calculation of avoided waste, delivery of certification and physical diploma to each of the employees.

Why is a sustainability activity important for employees?
An employee sustainability activity is important because it transforms the company’s internal culture, connects the team with a shared purpose beyond business objectives, and turns ESG commitments into tangible actions that people experience firsthand.
✅ Engagement and sense of belonging. Employees who participate in actions with real impact feel more connected to the company and to each other.
✅ Consistency with the ESG strategy. It is not enough to publish sustainability reports — it is necessary to involve the people who make the organization work every day.
✅ A change in habits that goes beyond the office. What is learned in a workshop or challenge is taken home, multiplying the environmental impact beyond working hours.
✅ Differentiation in attracting and retaining talent. New generations choose companies that demonstrate environmental commitment with actions, not just words.
