Reforestation
Deforestation is not just the loss of trees, it is the loss of the safety net of life on Earth.

Hi!
We are Magda and Martí
We founded Go Zero Waste to promote sustainable actions that help the planet.
We promote reforestation because it allows us to restore degraded ecosystems. It is an active effort to reverse the damage caused by human activity or natural disasters.
· In addition, during the reforestation days, we promote other actions that can be taken to create social and environmental impact.
What is reforestation?
Repopulate areas
It is an operation aimed at repopulating areas that were once covered in forests but were cleared by logging, fires or agriculture.
Ecosystem restoration
During our reforestation days, only native species are planted under the supervision of an agronomist.
Challenges and prizes for participants
At the end of the reforestation day, we propose challenges with actions that can be taken and give prizes to the people who generate the most impact.
What are the environmental benefits of reforestation?
Halting desertification in the territory
Planting forests in the Iberian Peninsula is a key action to stop desertification caused by climate change.
Mitigation of global warming
Reforestation allows the creation of carbon sinks that help to slow global warming and offset CO2 emissions.
Biodiversity recovery
Planting native vegetation and a variety of shrubs in degraded or burned areas restores the balance of the ecosystem and strengthens wildlife.
What are our goals?
SDG 11 | Cities and
sustainable communities
Encourage direct contact with nature
Through planting activities
SDG 12 | Production and
responsible consumption
Promote conscious consumption
Through planting and the actions we propose afterwards
SDG 13 | Climate Action
Carry out environmental awareness actions
There is no better teaching than the action a person performs with their hands.
How does reforestation work?
Choosing the date
We are looking for a date where at least 100 trees will be planted.
Technical study of the land
An agricultural technician conducts a study of the native vegetation of the area and develops a planting proposal.
Budget Formalization
We have already blocked the selected date with the payment of 50% of the budget.
Request for permits
We take care of all the necessary permits for the activity
Planting day
We planted native tree and shrub specimens using protectors and stakes to ensure their survival.
Closing ceremony and awards presentation
We are raffling off €50 gift cards among all participants.

Where do we carry out our reforestation efforts?
Degraded areas
- The main objective is to recover degraded areas and strengthen the forest mass to stop the advance of the desert caused by climate change.
Burned areas
- We work with areas affected by fire, such as the municipality of Bellprat and the area of Castell de Queralt, to recover biodiversity after fires like the one that occurred in 202.
Spaces provided by city councils
- We operate in spaces provided by municipalities or private owners, who commit to carrying out the irrigation during the first dry season.
Testimonios
Why is reforestation important in Spain?
Active prevention of forest fires
The activities include the clearing of biomass in natural areas, which is a direct fire prevention and awareness measure.
Neutralization of the digital footprint
It allows offsetting the CO2 emissions derived specifically from the energy consumption of company and personal brand websites .
Strengthening the local social fabric
Priority is given to collaboration with local councils and landowners within Spanish territory, who cede their spaces for the recovery of the environment.
Promoting a circular and responsible economy
With our challenges and actions post-reforestation
Job creation
Well-managed forests are a very important source of job creation in rural areas.
Guarantee of ecosystem survival
Unlike neglected plantations, the process requires a commitment to irrigation from the owners during the first dry season, ensuring that the reforestation effort thrives.
FAQS
The plantings are carried out by Go Zero Waste staff in collaboration with agronomic technicians and partner associations.
Only native vegetation of ecological interest is used . Before each action, an agricultural technician carries out a study of the environment to ensure that no species is planted that does not belong to that specific territory.
We operate anywhere on the Iberian Peninsula . The goal is to halt local desertification, working on land provided by municipalities or private owners, such as the Bellprat area , which has been affected by wildfires.
The process includes several security mechanisms:
-
Protectors and tutors: These are installed on each specimen to protect them from external aggressions.
-
Irrigation commitment: Landowners sign a commitment to water the trees during their first dry season.
-
Soil preparation: A mechanical hole is dug beforehand to facilitate rooting.
Each reforestation project has a fixed price depending on the number of participants and the activities to be included.
