Prize Selection
To maximize local commerce, the prizes were chosen to include four €200 gift cards to be spent at Manlleu businesses offering products or services based on zero waste and the circular economy.
Creation of a communication campaign.
We designed a website to explain the challenges, prizes, and how the campaign works.
We printed posters with the campaign’s QR code, which were personally distributed to businesses in Manlleu.
A ballot to participate to the campaign
Campaign development
After visiting sustainable businesses in Manlleu and adding them to the app, the campaign was launched on social media, and participants in the first edition were notified so they could participate in the second. Several environmental education activities were organized , offering more in-person and hands-on learning:
A recycling and zero-waste cooking workshop taught by professionals from the Sambucus restaurant in the Municipal Market kitchen.
We participated in the Manlleu Municipal Theater’s Film Forum Series, which featured screenings of the films A Small Plan to Save the Planet, SpaceShip Earth, Cota Brava Lebanon, How to Change the World, The Mountain Woman, and Tomorrow.
Why a waste reduction campaign?
The Move for Zero campaign in Manlleu has promoted local commerce and waste reduction through gamification and environmental education. Through the proposed activities and challenges, the people of Manlleu have learned what actions we can take in our daily lives to reduce the waste we generate at home , at work , and while traveling . We have also created a map of establishments with sustainable and local consumption options .
With our waste reduction campaigns , local governments can boost local businesses while reducing waste generation.
