Circular and sustainable municipalities
One of the biggest problems facing local councils in implementing the circular economy is the difficulty in meeting European targets for municipal waste recycling, still falling far short of the established goals, and the need for greater investment in infrastructure and administrative coordination.

Our solution: Moving Towards Zero
We founded Go Zero Waste to boost local commerce through sustainability and the circular economy.
· We promote local shopping because it drives the economy, generates employment and improves community life.
· We carry out campaigns for municipalities of all sizes and also offer environmental education activities .
What campaigns do we run?
It’s not just important to increase recycling rates. It’s also crucial to raise awareness among citizens and businesses about the need to reduce waste through incentives and actions accessible to everyone.
Our programs include a wide range of environmental education activities such as workshops, talks, information campaigns and cultural proposals for all ages.
Local businesses are essential to the transition to zero waste. Through our campaigns, we support business owners in implementing best practices that reduce waste generation and save costs.

How does the process of creating a campaign for a city council work?
We work with city councils , economic development or environmental departments , and business associations to design an action plan focused on promoting and boosting local consumption in neighborhoods as an essential part of economic activity and job creation in towns and cities.
Situation analysis
We conducted an audit of businesses to identify opportunities for improvement and carried out a study of the waste generated by the population.
Strategy design
We devised a plan for preparation, execution and post-campaign at both the communication and operational levels.
Communication design
We created the necessary online and offline communication materials. We also distributed them to partner establishments and organizations.
Campaign Implementation
We present the challenges and activities that will help promote local commerce and waste reduction.
Monitoring and promotion
During the campaign we accompanied the participants and businesses to achieve maximum participation
Closing ceremony and awards presentation
We are raffling off €50 gift cards to spend at participating establishments among all participants.

Villages
In small towns as we have done in Les Cabanyes (1,011 inhabitants), in Balsareny (3,325 inhabitants), Tona (8,511 inhabitants).
We adapt each campaign to the characteristics of the town and its needs .
Cities
In cities like Argentona (12,844 inhabitants), Manlleu (20,804 inhabitants), Blanes (41,935 inhabitants), Vilafranca del Penedès (41,541 inhabitants) and Dublin with more than 592,000 inhabitants.
In cities we create alliances with trade associations, neighborhood associations and local entities.
Commonwealths
- In associations of municipalities such as Mancomunitat La Plana with more than 32,000 inhabitants.
- In the Commonwealths, parallel activities can be created in each town and small challenge competitions can be created to encourage the population to be the city with the most participation.
Testimonials
Benefits of our campaigns for local councils
Compliance with Environmental and EU Goals
The campaign becomes a direct tool to achieve the recycling, reuse and waste reduction targets (especially plastics) imposed by regional, national and European legislation (SDGs 12 and 13)
Economic Boost and Resilience of Local Commerce
By linking sustainability with local commerce , the campaign creates a double incentive: citizens support stores that adopt circular practices, increasing sales and loyalty.
Improving Institutional Image and Citizen Trust
A city council that promotes direct action and offers practical solutions (such as sustainable alternatives and circular trade routes) positions itself as an innovative and committed leader
Community Education and Lasting Habit Change
Gamification and the interactive approach of the campaign (such as the challenges in the App) achieve greater citizen involvement than traditional information campaigns.
Promoting Public-Private Collaboration
The campaign requires active coordination between the city council, business associations, educational centers and citizens.
Data Collection and Social Impact Measurement
Thanks to the gamification tool (the App), the city council not only raises awareness, but also collects concrete data on the challenges overcome and the habits of the participants.

FAQS
Moving Towards Zero! is a campaign that aims to promote local commerce and responsible consumption through challenges. Each campaign features customized challenges co-created with the client and is accompanied by in-person activities, communication initiatives, and prizes for participants.
The campaigns are designed for different types of clients: groups of merchants, municipal markets and commercial axes of towns and cities.
We work hand in hand with the City Council in coordination with the areas of economic promotion and environment and the associations of merchants or stallholders to guarantee a cross-cutting action.
As part of the campaigns we offer a catalog of practical and educational activities related to the challenges we pose, such as showcooking workshops, educational talks or sustainable shopping routes.
The various activities are organized in collaboration with local businesses and entities.
We propose challenges related to local and responsible consumption and sustainable shopping habits. For example: zero-waste shopping or food waste reduction.
Each campaign has a fixed price based on its duration, the number of challenges, and the activities included. The shortest campaigns last one month, and the longest last one year.
In many cities, the campaign can be subsidized thanks to the support of provincial councils or intermunicipal associations . For example, in the province of Barcelona, the campaign can be carried out through the Barcelona Provincial Council’s Services Catalogue under the Environmental Education category .
